Permanent Hair Removal - Transdermal Electrolysis LaserThe Transdermal Electrolysis system is a painless laser scanning form of permanent hair removal. It is safe and non invasive. A galvanic current is transmitted from the holder to the soft, moist tissue around the hair shaft reaching the salt water content of the hair follicle. The current changes the salt water to sodium hydroxide (lye). Then the lye decomposes the germinative cells and the papilla. When they are decomposed the hair will not regrow - this can happen immediately or after a few treatments. Gel conducts a current to the hair follicle and once is has decomposed it just slides out with little resistance with either waxing or tweezing. There is no danger of pitting, scarring, infection or discoloured skin, as there can be sometimes with ordinary electrolysis. Permanent hair removal is a slow process and can sometimes take years depending on the amount of hair to be removed. The client can decide how quickly she wishes to get rid of the hair - weekly treatments are possible for speed, but this will depend on the client's pocket. Once all the hairs have been removed it is necessary to wait a few weeks for some to re-grow to allow the next treatment. This treatment as with electrolysis is a process of elimination until the hair follicle is too weak to allow regrowth. All persons have a capacity of hair growth to approximately 1,000 hairs per square inch, but they are not all growing at the same time. Even on a healthy human scalp there are only 200 hairs visible in a square inch. this means that for every hair you see on your scalp there are 10 to 20 hairs underneath the scalp you cannot see. Hair grows approximately 1/2 inch a month. However the hair on a woman's upper lip area may grow only to a maximum length of 1/4 inch long above the surface of the skin. This would mean the hair in this area could be in its Anagen (growing) stage approximately 2 weeks only after the hair is visible and this is when it is at its weakest and should be treated. If you were to wait a month before treatment permanent hair removal would not be as fast since many of the hairs that are being treated would have already gone into their shredding stage and could not be destroyed. Therefore regular treatments spaced either 1 or 2 weeks' apart are important for effective permanent removal. There is no easy answer. Your therapist will consider treating some of your stubborn hairs with the needle electrolysis if they appear to resist the transdermal probe after a year or so in treatment. A topical anaesthetic will be used with this treatment but not with the transdermal scanning laser method as it is painless and does not require a needle.
